About DC Audio & Founder Rusty Flowers

Built From a Passion for Car Audio

My name is Rusty Flowers, founder and owner of DC Audio, and car audio has been a major part of my life for more than 30 years.

DC Audio didn't start with a huge building, a massive product line, or some complicated business plan. It started with a passion for loud car audio, building great products, and a simple goal:

Sell one subwoofer a day.

At the time, that seemed like a pretty big goal.

Today, DC Audio has grown far beyond what I originally imagined, but I still try to run the company with the same philosophy I had when we started: build products we're proud of, treat people fairly, give customers honest advice, and never forget the people who helped us get here.

From One Subwoofer a Day to DC Audio

When I started DC Audio, I wanted to build car audio subwoofers that could take serious abuse and deliver the performance competitors were looking for.

I wasn't interested in simply putting the DC Audio name on another product. I wanted to understand how our equipment worked, how people were using it, what was failing, and what we could do to make it better.

That hands-on mentality became a major part of DC Audio.

As the company grew, so did our product lineup. Today, DC Audio offers high-performance car audio subwoofers, monoblock amplifiers, multi-channel amplifiers, mids, coaxial speakers, wiring, RCA cables, installation accessories, and other car audio equipment for systems ranging from daily drivers to extreme competition builds.

But subwoofers will always be a huge part of who we are.

Hand-Built Car Audio Subwoofers

There is something different about building a product with your own hands and then seeing a customer use it to accomplish something they didn't think was possible.

That's one of the things I love most about DC Audio, the people out there showing me what i’ve made and what it can do.

I've spent years developing and building high-performance subwoofers for car audio systems, including everything from smaller daily-driver applications to massive high-power subwoofers designed for SPL competition and extreme bass systems.

We understand that our customers aren't all building the same type of vehicle.

Some people want a clean daily system that sounds amazing.

Some want to shake the entire car.

And some want to find out exactly how much bass a vehicle can possibly produce.

We love all of it.

More Than Just Watts and Decibels

The car audio industry loves numbers.

Watts. Decibels. Voice coil sizes. Motor force. Amplifier power.

Those things matter, but I've learned over the years that the people matter even more.

Some of the best things to come from building DC Audio have been the friendships and relationships I've developed with customers, dealers, competitors, installers, builders, and other people throughout the car audio industry.

I've always believed that you can compete with somebody without treating them like an enemy.

You can sell someone a product without trying to sell them something they don't need.

And sometimes the best thing you can do for a customer is simply give them good advice.

That's the kind of company I've always wanted DC Audio to be.

Built for Daily Drivers and Competition Car Audio

DC Audio products are used in an incredibly wide range of builds.

You'll find our equipment in traditional daily-driver car audio systems, custom show vehicles, high-output bass builds, demo vehicles, stunt walls, and dedicated SPL competition vehicles.

Whether someone is purchasing their first serious subwoofer or building an extreme system with thousands of watts of amplifier power, our goal remains the same:

Give them equipment they can be proud to run.

Our lineup continues to evolve with new DC Audio subwoofers, car audio amplifiers, speakers, mids, coaxials, wiring, and accessories, but we never want growth to come at the expense of what made DC Audio successful in the first place.

20 Years of DC Audio

Reaching 20 years in business is something I'm extremely proud of.

When I think back to that original goal of selling one subwoofer per day, it's pretty incredible to see where this company has gone.

But DC Audio was never built by one person.

Our employees, dealers, customers, sponsored competitors, friends, family, and the entire car audio community have all contributed to what DC Audio has become.

I've met thousands of people because of car audio. I've watched customers become friends, new enthusiasts become serious competitors, and people who bought their first DC Audio product years ago continue supporting us today.

That means more to me than I can put into words. Your the reasonI’m still here.

The Future of DC Audio

After 20 years, I'm still excited about what comes next.

We're going to continue developing high-performance car audio equipment, improving our products, experimenting with new designs, and finding ways to make more power and more bass while maintaining the reliability our customers expect.

But I also want DC Audio to remain personal.

I never want us to become a company where customers are nothing more than order numbers.

We're car audio people building products for other car audio people.

That's what got us here, and that's what I want DC Audio to continue being.

To everyone who has purchased a DC Audio product, represented us at a show, competed with our equipment, become a dealer, recommended us to a friend, or simply stopped by to talk about car audio:

Thank you.

You helped turn my goal of selling one subwoofer a day into 20 years of DC Audio.

And we're not finished yet.
